Thanks for the heads up on the movies -- I will forward this to Dean, who does the Netflix orders, and see if we can watch these.

I love the flexibility of Twitter and shudder at all the rules and guidelines people come up with. I guess I have one guideline that I apply to all my social interactions, the Golden Rule: treat others as I would like to be treated.

When I apply the Golden Rule to Twitter it simply means that I try to write what I find interesting...the kind of stuff I wish people would share with me.

Unlike the majority of people, I don't care whether I'm popular. I follow a few close friends on Twitter and others are welcome to join in. But I don't spend any time pining over my stats or worrying about strategies. I'm not trying to sell anyone anything. The beauty of Twitter is that you can take someone as they are or you can leave them alone.

The decisions are up to you. There are no rules.

Thank you! Living with a self proclaimed social media enthusiast, I hear a lot about the latest trends in how to most effectively use different social media tools. But being communications majors, both my better half (@vedo) and I understand that social media tools are just that - they are tools for communication.

Right now they may be the trend that everyone is talking about, but I think that you are right that there is no one formula that is going to work for everyone. I love that you are brave enough to stand up and say you aren't going to follow one prescribed formula and that's okay, because you are effectively communicating with within your sphere of influence and that is exactly how it should work.

This is MY twitter and I will do with it as I please, thank you very much.

That said...This was all VERY informative.

I think I will CHOOSE to adopt this stance for a while and see what happens.

A great tool I like to use to measure the stats of my tweets is http://www.twitalyzer.com

It's a great resource to use to see the progression of your tweets, how you're tweeting, and to learn about your influence on Twitter.
